Jilted

(edited by Tim Baxter)

There are no ideologies left for us to fight for. Today, the battles are much more personal.

We have been numbed to the constant state of apocalypticism in the nightly news broadcast. Instead of fighting for democracy, anarchy, freedom, suffrage, or equality, many of the young today have begun another fight. We fight for something that is both entrenched by and fought against by the world's media. We fight for love.

Even the most hardened cynics amongst us have felt the pangs of loneliness, the pangs of regret. It's a less noble cause than the causes of the generations that came before us, but isn't nobility just a lie that no self-respecting nihilist would swallow?

This book isn't for those who have won the battle. They can stay surrounded in their idyllic world would of families, careers and a two car garage.

This book is for the losers—for the Jilted. We have been rejected. Even if all we have done is reject ourselves. This book is the triple chocolate ice-cream pig out.
